Dr Donal Murray
MB ChB MRCGP
I am originally from Bangor, Co, Down and moved to Aberdeen to study medicine. Having completed my studies I moved to Helensburgh where I trained as a GP.
I have spent the last 2 years working on the Inner Hebrides before joining the practice in January. My wife, Abi, works as a surgeon in Inverclyde. We have one son James who is now 3 and were recently joined by baby Jessica! I am looking forward to a long future in Kilcreggan..
Dr Susan Thornborrow
MB ChB MRCGP
Born in Glasgow my family moved south of the border when I was 5 to first Formby then Durham. I returned to Glasgow to study Medicine in 2000. I completed my years as a junior doctor in Paisley, Inverclyde and Oban before spending time working in A&E in Australia, New Zealand and Dumfries. Glasgow keeps pulling me back though and I returned to train as a GP in Paisley. Still living in Glasgow with my Husband and three small children I am delighted to have been invited to work in Kilcreggan.

Our Practice Manager
I’ve lived on the Peninsula since the age of 7, attending both Kilcreggan Primary and Hermitage Academy. I have a son living in Oban and 2 beautiful grandchildren, as well as 2 step grandchildren in Cornwall. As you can imagine, most of my ‘spare’ time is taken up with visiting them all.
I was delighted to become part of the reception team in our modern purpose built Medical Practice in February 2008, becoming Practice Manager in September 2014.
We constantly look for better ways of working to improve our performance, ultimately helping our patients to improve their health and wellbeing. I am happy to answer any queries you may have about the practice, and welcome feedback from patients.
Welcome to our new website. We felt this would be a good opportunity to let you know a little about ourselves. We have a team of two GPs and three Practice Nurses working with a team of Health Visitors, Midwives and District Nurses from NHS Highland.
Over the years our local Health service has evolved from a couple of rooms in the Doctor's home, to converting the old cobblers shop in Kilcreggan village into a waiting room and surgery (now part of the local pub!) and then a ‘temporary’ Portakabin housing a few consulting rooms for GP’s, nursing and physio staff. Our current premises are custom-built including a full physio suite, consulting rooms for the doctors and nurses and a podiatry room.
News from the Back Office
The reception team are your first port of call when contacting the medical practice. They can help with all general enquiries: booking appointments, chasing test results, chasing referrals and a myriad of other requests. At present however, we cannot take prescription requests over the phone - these are dealt with by email, via the website or directly with the pharmacy (for patients on CMS).
We have a happy and friendly team (their words - not mine!) and most have been here quite a while. They tend to have a very good idea about what is going on and are more than capable of keeping the doctors in line!
They all live on the Peninsula and their spare time is devoted to their families and walking an extravagant array of pets!
They are all bound by the same level of confidentiality as the clinical staff - so anything they know stays in the practice and is not shared outside.
